The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning over much of the tri-state area, including southwestern Connecticut, that will be in effect from 10 pm Tuesday, March 6, until 4 am Thursday, March 8.
Heavy snow is expected, with total snow accumulations of 6-12 inches, except 10 to 15 inches across interior portions of the Lower Hudson Valley, and most of interior southern Connecticut, according to the warning. Locally higher amounts are possible, also according to the weather service.
The Warning continues: "Travel will be very difficult to impossible, including during the evening commute on Wednesday. Be prepared for significant reductions in visibility at times.
"A Winter Storm Warning for snow means severe winter weather conditions will make travel very hazardous or impossible. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. Check local Department of Transportation information services for the latest road," it also includes.
