Heading in to the second weekend of December 2017, Newtown is facing the first possibility of measurable snow this season. We may not receive the kind of snow that Blizzard Stella brought in March (above, as seen near one home on Loveland Drive), but there may be enough to at least shovel by this time Saturday. A few cancellation notices have already been received.shannon@thebee.com.NUTCRACKER PERFORMANCES on Saturday at Danbury High School, which includes at least 20 Newtown residents in its cast and even more working behind the scenes, have been cancelled. Refunds are available. An additional Sunday evening performance has been added. Read more here.

If you or a group you represent need to get the word out about a change of plans for Friday or Saturday, December 8-9, due to the snow that is expected to affect this region, please send an email to Newtown Bee Associate Editor Shannon Hicks, at

If you own or operate a business that will be opening late due to the weather, feel free to also contact us with that information.
