The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) will welcome the internationally acclaimed artist Frank Bruckmann, who will demonstrate his process of painting a landscape in oil on Wednesday, December 3.

Mr Bruckmann’s program will begin at 1:30 pm. It will be in the lower level of Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street. The session is open to the public and admission is free.

Mr Bruckmann began his art studies at the DuCret School of Art and at the Art Students League in New York. He then continued at the Ecole des Beaux Arts and the American Academy in Paris.

He also spent nearly a decade in Europe copying from the masters in the great museums in France and Spain.

Mr Bruckmann relocated to Connecticut in 1990 as he discovered the endless painting material on the shoreline. Whether setting up his easel on the beach, painting portraits, taking off to Mexico or Europe for a landscape painting trip, or composing a still life in his studio, one can see a man dedicated principally to the art of painting and living.

Mr Bruckmann’s work has won numerous awards, among them the Weiss Sisters Award (2001, 2008, 2009) at New Haven Paint & Clay Club. He is represented by Kehler Liddell Gallery in New Haven.

His paintings are in many American and international collections, including The Seven Bridges Foundation in Greenwich and The Norwalk Museum. In addition, Mr Bruckmann has worked as an instructor at the Bruce Museum in Greenwich, Silvermine School of Art in New Canaan, and Rowayton Arts Center in Darien.
