Hanover Road

Police report a two-vehicle collision on Hanover Road, near its intersection with Pond Brook Road, about 5:18 pm on October 24.

The crash involved driver Orlando Feliciano, 25, of Bridgeport, who was driving a commercial 2016 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 2500 truck, and motorist Laura Muckell, 55, of Newtown, who was driving a 2013 Toyota Prius.

Feliciano reported pain, but refused medical attention at the scene, police report. Police issued Feliciano an infraction for traveling too fast for conditions and for driving with unsafe tires.

DUI Charge

Police said they responded to a report of motor vehicle accident at about 9:43 pm on October 24 near 71 South Main Street.

Police said motorist Hayley Basso, 21, of Newtown, who was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Malibu northward on South Main Street, attempted to make a right turn into a parking lot at Ricky's Plaza, but struck some curbing, a masonry wall, and a sign. There were no injuries.

Police said they charged Basso with driving under the influence and with failure to drive in the proper lane.

Police said that after processing, they released Basso on $100 bail for a November 7 court appearance.

CVS Shoplifting

Police report they arrested Ernesto Serrano, 35, no address given, on a warrant on October 24, charging him with conspiracy to commit third-degree larceny and with first-degree criminal trespassing.

The charges stem from an April 3, 2016, incident at the CVS store at 6 Queen Street, in which Serrano allegedly was involved in the theft of approximately 230 items from the store which had an approximate $6,500 value. Items taken included packages of over-the-counter medications, police said.

Police had viewed a surveillance video made at the store in collecting evidence in the case after the incident had occurred. In state Superior Court in Danbury on October 24, Serrano pleaded not guilty to both charges. He is scheduled to return to court on November 21.

School Bus Accident

Police report that an accident involving a SUV and an All-Star Transportation school bus without bus passengers occurred about 4:39 pm on October 23 on Elm Drive. There were no injuries in the incident.

Police said motorist James Doutney, 17, of Sandy Hook, who was driving a 2014 Mazda CX-5 SUV with a 16-year-old passenger, was waiting and facing east on the access driveway near Liberty Field, as Judit Dolan, 44, of Newtown was driving the 2013 Blue Bird school bus southward on Elm Drive. The Mazda then attempted to enter Elm Drive and struck the bus, police said.

Police report they issued Doutney an infraction for failure to grant the right of way and also for a passenger restriction.

Four Warrants

Police report that at about 5 pm on October 23, Katherine Sullivan, 52, of Sandy Hook, was transported to the police station by bail enforcement agents after they had apprehended her in New York.

Police said they then arrested Sullivan on four warrants, each of which listed one count of second-degree failure to appear in court. Police said they held Sullivan on $30,000 bail for arraignment on the charges on October 24 in state Superior Court in Danbury.

Interstate Crash

At about 8:15 am on October 22, motorist David Wilkes, 32, of New Haven, who was driving a 2008 Ford Edge SUV westward on Interstate 84, about 500 feet east of Exit 10, entered the highway's median and then struck some guardrailing, damaging it, state police said.

There were no injuries. State police said they issued Wilkes an infraction for failure to maintain the travel lane.

Motorcycle Down

Police report that an unknown motorcyclist was riding a 2001 Yamaha YZF-R6 at about 3:45 pm on October 22 southward on Plumtrees Road, after which the person entered that road's intersection with Taunton Hill Road and Great Hill Road.

The motorcyclist then drove into some curbing at the intersection, resulting in the person being ejected from the vehicle, police said. Police said that when they arrived at the scene, the motorcyclist was gone, but the damaged motorcycle was parked there with its kickstand down. Police are investigating the incident.

DUI Incident

Police said they received a report about 8:10 pm on October 22 concerning an erratic motorist traveling in the area near the intersection of Nunnawauk Road and Wasserman Way, so they went to that area to investigate.

Police said they located the motorist in question, David Cortina, 24, of Newtown, after which they charged him with driving under the influence, failure to drive in the proper lane, and driving with unsafe tires.

Cortina was released on $500 bail for a November 7 court appearance, according to police.

Evading Responsibility

Police are seeking information from anyone with knowledge about a motor vehicle accident that occurred about 6:15 pm on Saturday, October 21, in the parking lot at Tambascio's Italian Grill, a restaurant at 1 Dodgingtown Road (Route 302) in Dodgingtown.

Police said that an unknown white woman in her 50's with medium-length sandy blonde hair, who was driving a white Toyota Camry sedan eastward on Dodgingtown Road, left the roadway and entered the adjacent parking lot, striking a parked, unoccupied Nissan Rogue SUV that was parked in a parking space. There were no injuries.

When confronted by witnesses, the woman drove away from the scene, police said. The Toyota likely has a damaged right front bumper. Police ask anyone with information on the incident to contact them at the police station at 3 Main Street, telephone 203-426-5841.

Drug Activity

Police report they received a complaint concerning suspicious activity involving two vehicles parked near the intersection of Castle Hill Road and Old Castle Drive, which is a scenic overlook, at about 7:44 pm on October 21, so they responded to the area to investigate.

Police said that after investigating, they charged Nicholas Hall, 19, of Newtown with three counts of sale of a controlled substance, one count of possession of drug paraphernalia, and one count of possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle. Police said that in the arrest they seized 4.9 ounces of marijuana, nine grams of marijuana wax, some prescription pills, drug paraphernalia, and $765 in cash.

Following arrest processing, police released Hall on $1,500 bail for a November 7 arraignment of the charges in state Superior Court in Danbury.

DUI Arrest

Police report that late on the night of October 21, motorist Chad Feli, 40, of Newtown, who was driving a 2004 Ford F-250 pickup truck southward on Parmalee Hill Road, near Parmalee Place, struck the rear end of a 2015 Volkswagen Jetta traveling there.

Police said that Feli left the scene of the accident without properly exchanging information with the Volkswagen's driver. There were no injuries.

Police located Feli and then charged him with driving under the influence, evading responsibility, and following too closely. Police released Feli from custody for a November 7 court appearance.

Highway Motorcycle

Motorcyclist Glenn Derbyshire, 56, of Naugatuck was riding a 2003 Harley-Davidson eastward on Interstate 84, west of Exit 9, about 6:23 pm on October 20, when he lost control of the motorcycle and it fell over, throwing him from the vehicle, state police said.

Derbyshire was transported by ambulance to Danbury Hospital for treatment of injuries, state police said. State police report that Derbyshire was traveling too fast for conditions. Also, Derbyshire received an infraction for possession of less than one-half ounce of marijuana and for possession of drug paraphernalia, according to state police.

Three Vehicles

State police report a three-vehicle accident on westbound Interstate 84, near Exit 9, about 6:50 pm on October 20.

The incident occurred amid traffic congestion and stop-and-go travel conditions. The chain-reaction accident involved motorist Matthew Hall, 23, of Ansonia, who was driving a 2012 Volkswagen Jetta; motorist Sean Lawrence, 32, of Brookfield, who was diving a 2008 Subaru Impreza; and motorist Lynn Simoneau, 42, of Sandy Hook, who was driving a 1998 Ford Econoline van, state police said.

There were no injuries. Simoneau received an infraction for following too closely and for driving an unregistered vehicle, state police said.

Sandy Hook DUI

About 2:33 pm on October 19, police received a report concerning an erratic motorist traveling on westbound Berkshire Road, near its intersection with Zoar Road, so they responded to investigate. Police said they located the vehicle in question on Wasserman Way, near Exit 11 of Interstate 84.

Police said they charged motorist Angelica Bryant, 26, of New Haven with driving under the influence and with driving with a suspended license.

Police released Bryant on $500 bail on those charges for a November 2 appearance in state Superior Court in Danbury.

Police said they additionally charged Bryant with second-degree failure to appear in court in connection with pending charges stemming from a May incident in New Haven.

Honda Vs Audi

On October 19, on eastbound Interstate 84, west of Exit 10, during heavy traffic conditions, motorist Kathleen Faeth, 71, of Danville, Penn., who was driving a 2017 Honda Accord, struck the rear end of a 2013 Audi A-4 driven by Leslie Persson, 50, of Woodbury, state police said.

There were no injuries. State police said they issued Faeth a written warning for following too closely.

Sandy Hook Center

About 8:12 am on October 17, a two-vehicle collision occurred on Glen Road, near its intersection with Church Hill Road, Washington Avenue, and Riverside Road.

The accident involved motorist Kathleen Woolley, 58, of Southbury, who was driving a 2012 Nissan Murano SUV, and motorist Carole Ann Georges, 61, of Southbury, who was driving a 2009 Honda Accord auto, police said. There were no injuries. Police report they verbally warned Woolley for following too closely.

Exit 11 Ramp

State police report that motorist James Wanta, 28, of Orange, who was driving a 2013 Nissan Maxima sedan, stopped at the end of Interstate 84's Exit 11 off-ramp about 10:34 am on October 17 and was then struck from behind by motorist Megan Shiskin, 20, of Monroe, who was driving a 1998 Buick Regal sedan. There were no injuries. Shiskin received a warning for following too closely, according to state police.

Two Arrests

Police report they arrested a local man on October 15 and October 18 in connection with two separate incidents.

Police said that at about 4:25 pm on October 15, they received a complaint concerning suspicious activity at a gas station at 151 South Main Street, so they responded to the scene. After investigating, police said they charged motorist Adrian Ajdinoski, 18, of Newtown with driving under the influence. After arrest processing, police released Ajdinoski on $500 bail for an October 26 court appearance.

Police said that at about 2 pm on October 18, they spotted Ajdinoski driving a vehicle on South Main Street and determined that they then had a warrant for his arrest in connection with a September 13 incident on Greenbriar Lane.

Police said they charged Ajdinoski with evading responsibility, making a restricted turn, disorderly conduct, and second-degree making a false statement. Ajdinoski has not entered pleas in court to those four charges. He is scheduled to next appear court on those charges on November 21.

Personal Watercraft Stolen

Police report that someone sometime between October 1 and October 15 stole a personal watercraft, which was being kept at a dock on Lake Zoar, near 161 Lakeview Terrace. Police are investigating the theft and ask anyone with knowledge of the incident to contact them.
