NUMC To Welcome Its Conference Bishop For Sundayâs Services
Reverend Terry Pfeiffer and the congregation of Newtown United Methodist Church invite the community to join them on Sunday, February 26, for the churchâs worship services.
Resident Bishop Jeremiah Jungchan Park, who is the current bishop for the more than 500 churches within the New York Conference of the United Methodist Church, will be delivering the message that morning during the 8 and 10 am worship services.
The New York Conference includes all of Long Island, New York City, Connecticut west of the Connecticut River, and areas along each side of the Hudson River.
Bishop Park was first elected as a delegate to the Jurisdictional Conference in 1996. He was elected as a delegate to the General Conference in 2000 and 2004.
He served on the Vision Table, Program and Arrangements Committee, Board of Directors of The Multi-Ethnic Center for Ministry, and the Korean-American Mission of the Northeastern Jurisdiction (NEJ).
He also served as chairperson of the Conference Commission on Religion and Race and the Multi-Ethnic Ministries Coordinating Committee. He is currently a member of the Advisory Commission in Faith-Based Initiatives for New Jersey Governor Jon S. Corzine.
Upon his election as bishop in July 2004, Bishop Park was assigned as Resident Bishop of the New York Area and The NEJ Korean-American Mission. The Council of Missions assigned him to the National United Methodist Council on Korean-American Ministries and the Connecticut Ministries Funding Patterns Task Force.
