To the Editor:

The following is my best attempt to shed some light on a Newtown business owner. Aline Marie, owner of the Newtown Yoga Center, 78 South Main Street, is a great person, period. She is caring and compassionate, has a great sense of humor, and most obviously offers a local-centric approach in her business.

I came to Newtown from another state and was welcomed into Aline’s studio as though I were a good friend. I suspect there are others that had similar experiences.

Last year as the COVID-19 situation accelerated, Aline did not fold. She became more creative and imaginative, and was able to continue teaching yoga that kept us all safe. Aline created online channels with many options for yoga classes and began offering outdoor classes (you may have seen the group practicing yoga in a field next to Route 25 in Newtown). Aline has stayed connected with us the entire time!

Last Sunday, January 17, she offered an outdoor yoga class with hot cocoa.

I applaud local business people like Aline who have opened their hearts and used their energy to keep us grounded through this pandemic. Aline has demonstrated through her actions that she is here to support this community. I feel very fortunate to have people like Aline among us.
