Newtown Youth Football and Cheer has announced its deadline for senior high school students to submit their applications for scholarships to the board for review. NYF&C has awarded thousands of dollars in financial assistance to Newtown students over the past several years. . Newtown High School seniors may also access the NYF&C application from the scholarship list in their Naviance account.

Forms are to be returned to the Career Center at Newtown High School and addressed as "Newtown Youth Football & Cheer Scholarship c/o Mrs Latowicki by April 3.

NYF&C will make up to $6,000 in scholarships available to deserving 2017 Newtown graduates. Superintendent of Newtown Public Schools Joseph V. Erardi, Jr, said this about the importance of funding in the community: "A grass root scholarship in many cases could be the deal breaker between a struggling launch and a successful launch for a youngster pursuing higher education... a personal thank you to the NYFC and to all those who give generously to Newtown students."

Throughout the calendar year, NYF&C runs fundraising programs to benefit the program, to lessen the registration cost of players and cheerleaders, and to give back to the community. The Annual Columbus Day Golf Outing, which will take place on Monday, October 9, this year is an example of one such fundraiser. All Newtown parents are welcome at NYF&C local events to continue the tradition of family and community. The NYF&C also welcomes the opportunity to share the enthusiasm of their vision of safety, fun, and character.

NYF&C activities are in full swing, including registration for the upcoming youth season now open online (boys and girls entering grades 2-8 in the fall 2017) and two camps announced for football.
