Beginning Sunday, February 28, Yoga Dimensions will host a yoga series fundraiser every other month for the remainder of the year, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to support the urgent work of Discovery to Cure at Yale School of Medicine.discoverytocure@yale.edu or call 203-737-5225.

The yoga studio is at 87 South Main Street. Sessions will run from 2 to 3:30 pm.

Discovery to Cure advances the prevention, early detection, and treatment of women's reproductive cancers, which include ovarian, uterine, cervical, and endometrial cancers.

The difficulty of recognizing the symptoms of these diseases leave women's reproductive cancers with a reputation as "silent killers." Discovery to Cure is dedicated to raising awareness of these gynecologic cancers, providing grants to promising research studies and translating research into clinical therapies to improve the survival rates and quality of life of patients.

Additionally, Discovery to Cure provides educational programs to cultivate future generations of scientists and physicians that will continue the fight against gynecological cancers.

Yoga Dimensions is committed to reaching out beyond the walls of its studio. Past fundraisers held have supported The Resiliency Center of Newtown, The Women's Center of Greater Danbury, Kevin's Community Center, and FAITH Food Pantry.

"The direct connection between the research lab and clinical patient care makes Discovery to Cure the leading program for women's reproductive cancer research and treatment," explained Dr Gil Mor, director of reproductive sciences in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at Yale School of Medicine. "By participating in this event you can help fund these critical efforts and bring hope and strength to women diagnosed with these diseases."

Yoga Dimensions instructor Kristi Gunnershaug will lead the five-session yoga series to benefit Discovery to Cure. The first session will be mixed-level yoga suitable for all, from beginners to advanced yogis. The additional dates are to be announced.

Donations, with all proceeds going to Discovery to Cure, are requested the day of each event.

Registration is advised as space will be limited. To register or for more information about the series, call Yoga Dimensions owner Lynda Weber at 203-364-9500.
