The Newtown High School Winter Percussion competed in the Musical Arts Conference (MAC) Competition at Norwalk High School on Saturday, March 11. They came in third out of six teams competing with a score of 81.65.info@nhsbandguard.com

The competition marked a comeback for the group, after it missed making the finals for the World Guard International (WGI) Regional Competition the previous weekend.

The group's show this year is "Slow Me Down." The visual effects incorporate the theme with the use of clock hands that are used throughout the show to demonstrate time. The music has a unique tempo that speeds up quickly then slows down, adding to the visual drama of the show.

The Winter Percussion and Winter Guard are working toward hosting the "Home Show" at Newtown High School, 12 Berkshire Road, on Saturday, March 25, from 12:30 to 8 pm.

The Winter Extravaganza will include 41 performing percussion and guard groups. Food and drinks will be available for sale. Tickets are $10 for adults, $7 for seniors and students, $5 for children, those under 5 years old are free to attend, and $40 per family.
