'Willy Wonka' Serving As September Someday Cinema Series Offering

Roald Dahl's story of how young Charlie finds the last golden ticket to see where the magic happens inside Wonka's Chocolate factory has been a childhood favorite for decades.Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory at 4 and 7 pm. The matinee will be shown with subtitles for the benefit of the hearing impaired.Vertigo and High Anxiety, October 29; Planes, Trains and Automobiles, November 12; and It's A Wonderful Life, December 17. All ages are invited to see Gene Wilder in the title role on Sunday, September 24, when Edmond Town Hall screens the 1971 film

There are no golden tickets to get in free, but anyone can buy a ticket for only $3. Someday Cinema Series Coordinator Jen Rogers is encouraging audiences to wear outfits inspired by the movie to have a chance to win a tasty prize for the best costume.

"I've never seen this film in the theater myself," admits Mrs Rogers. "The high definition edition is going to look amazing on the big screen."

A fan of the cinema series, Michele Grand of Green Crystal Massage in Sandy Hook said she was inspired to sponsor this film for a couple of reasons.

"First, to say 'thank you' to the residents of our community," Ms Grand explained. "So many have walked through my door and each has been special in their own unique way. Also, my family and I have so enjoyed many of the wonderful movies brought to town through this series."

For this film, Ken and Laura Lerman, Peter and Tracy van Buskirk, and The Sheep Shoppe yarn store are also supporting this film, presented by Newtown Cultural Arts Commission.
