When Q And U Go Walking

By Eliza Hallabeck

“Q and U are getting married,” members of Randi Rote and Evelyn Sanford’s kindergarten class at Wesley Learning Center said on Wednesday, March 4.

Ms Rote then asked the students why the letters Q and U were getting married.

Because, a number of students replied together, “They both go together.”

As part of learning why the letters Q and U always go together in the English alphabet, the class celebrated a wedding. The girls dressed up in dresses, the boys dressed up in button-down shirts, a ceremony of walking into the room was held, presents were opened and a sit-down meal, consisting of things like chicken nuggets and cup cakes provided by Andrea’s Bakery, was enjoyed by the students.

Students brought the presents in for the day, and wrapped them for themselves to be opened after ceremonially walking into the room. The class sat down in a circle and opened their presents. Each present had to start with either the letter Q or U.

One student brought in a unicorn, another a quall, and a number brought in quarters.

After opening the presents, the students continued to celebrate the wedding by sitting down to eat their meal, complete with plastic glasses filled with fruit punch.

The toast before taking their first sips was, “Congratulations Q and U.”
