Waldorf School Summer Camp Culminates With Harvest Feast

For Housatonic Valley Waldorf School camp students, some of what they learned this summer was on display for parents and family members on Friday, August 17, when a culminating harvest feast was held.
Camp Director Carrie Reilly said the students, including the 3-year-old campers, learned how to grind flour, make crepes, create homemade jam, and more this summer.
The summer camp at Housatonic Valley Waldorf School was offered for students between the ages of 3 and 12.
Along with learning the art of food preparation, students also made crafts, like the handmade candleholders on display at each table set up for the harvest feast on Friday.
Sitting below tents set up for the event, family members and students gathered outside the schoolâs 40 Dodgingtown Road early childhood campus. After Ms Reilly directed the first table to select food from the assorted options, including gluten-free choices, eventgoers lined up orderly to select their own choices.
The camp was offered over a period of six weeks this year, and Ms Reilly said it was well attended.
âWe had about 40 campers each week,â said Ms Reilly, between greeting attendees on Friday.
