To the Editor:

I have had the fortune to know Will Rodgers for the last nine years, and support him, and Jeff Capeci, to serve as Newtown First Selectman and Selectman.

Military leadership builds skills that only men and woman whom have served this great nation are fortunate to have - Duty, Honor, and Country are among the highest we Veterans hold with great pride. Will's leadership as a Colonel in the US Marine Corps Reserves 25 years, along with his five years of active duty includes a tour in Iraq, duty station at Quantico, Va., Navel Justice School in Newport, R.I., and Camp Pendleton, Calif.

Will volunteered to deploy to Iraq with the 4th Civil Affairs Group in 2006. He selflessly knew he would allow another Marine Colonel, and father of six children, from an involuntary mobilization. Will served as liaison between Marine Corps and the US Agency for International Development. Will traveled around the region, as well as the country, to work with military, and various tribes in the field.

Will's last tour was as an appellate judge for the Navy-Marine Court of Criminal Appeals. This court had jurisdiction over all branches subject to Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ). His military decorations include the Bronze Star, Meritorious Severance, and Navy Commendation, just to name a few.

As a practicing attorney, a long-time elected official, and a true leader in our community, along with his military background in negotiations, as a commander, and working with people with diverse backgrounds, this choice is obvious. Please join me and vote for Rodgers/Capeci First Selectman and Selectman.
