Volunteers Needed For Library Summer Reading Program

Young adult volunteers who like working with children and books are an important part of C.H. Booth Library’s Summer Reading Program every year. They talk with the younger students who are completing their Reading Logs and help them pick new books. Volunteers are actively being sought to participate in the program this summer.

This year youngsters will also be earning points towards the purchase of animals in the Heifer International’s Read To Feed Project, which donates livestock to families in subsistence cultures around the world. Families are trained in raising and caring for the animals, and pass on one of the offspring to another family, thus continuing the move toward self-reliance.

Interested students entering grades 6 and above are invited to attend a workshop Monday, June 2, from 4 to 5 pm, to learn more about the volunteer program and how it works. Anyone who is interested in the program but cannot attend the workshop may pick up a packet of materials after June 1, which must be returned by June 14.

Call the library, 426-4533, to sign up or ask questions.
