How long have you been in business? Up A Knotch first opened in Bethel in September 2014. After moving to Newtown this year, the thrift shop officially opened Monday, February 20.

What is the focus / product / service you or your business offers? All the original pieces are perfect for shoppers who love treasure hunting. There are more than 3,500 records available in a variety of genres, perfect for those just starting or looking to expand their collections. Up A Knotch sells a little bit of everything from neon signs to framed posters to collectibles like toy cars and trucks. Other one-of-a-kind items include a Vietnam helmet, a World War II canteen, and a limited edition 7-foot-tall pair of jeans that were a promotional prop from Wrangler. There is a variety of apparel including women's clothes in 1X, 2X, and 3X; men's jackets; slippers; as well as jewelry and purses. Up A Knotch is the place to go for finding unique pieces to complete every room, especially those looking to decorate a "man cave" with metal signs and beer-related items.

The What would you most like Newtown Bee readers to know about your business? Up A Knotch owners enjoy speaking with their customers and learning the stories about the items coming in. They are passionate about their business and appreciate hearing the history of the pieces. People can bring in items or call the store at 203-304-9648 to find out what they accept. It's a 50-50 partnership for items that sell, and each piece can stay in the store for 60 days. When an item sells, the person will receive a check. After 60 days, they can pick up their items if they have not sold.

Hours of opperation: Monday through Saturday 11 am to 4 pm - closed Sundays - spring hours to be determined.
