To the Editor:

I am writing this letter in support of Maureen Crick Owen for Newtown selectman. I have had the pleasure of getting to know Maureen over the past year while working with her on a town committee. I believe she has the empathy and skills to be an outstanding selectman for our town. Newtown has an opportunity for a fresh start with new elected officials and fresh ideas. I hope the community will seize this opportunity and vote on Tuesday, November 7. Especially, I am asking you to cast a vote for Maureen Crick Owen.

If elected, Maureen will be an elected official that will listen and be respectful of everyone. She does not jump to conclusions, but takes the time to understand an issue and weigh the consequences of each action. She is motivated by doing what is best for Newtown. Maureen is data driven and has sought out data where it is needed to make more informed decisions. As others have mentioned, Maureen has a long history of volunteering and working in various capacities for Newtown. Currently, Maureen is president of the Newtown Village Cemetery Association. She is a member of the Parks & Recreation Commission and Board of Assessment Appeals. Additionally, she is secretary of the Borough Zoning Board, and has recently been appointed as borough zoning enforcement officer. Maureen also serves as the administrator for the Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Association, Inc.

It has been a delight to get to know Maureen. I am convinced that she will bring a new level of enthusiasm and a vast knowledge of Newtown to the selectman's position. Therefore, I am thrilled to endorse Maureen Crick Owen for selectman.
