Business name and address: The Vintage Squire, 187 South Main Street.

Owners: Robert Bu, Tom Sinclair, and their sidekick dog named Fred.

How long have you been in business? Mr Bu and Mr Sinclair recently moved from California to Trumbull, knowing they wanted to open their business in Newtown to bring light and love to the community. They were determined to open The Vintage Squire last year before Christmas and put in many long hours getting the building ready. Their hard work paid off, and they achieved their goal, opening on Christmas Eve Day.

What is the focus / product / service you or your business offers? "We buy things that we love, and we hope that others will love them too," said Mr Bu. The Vintage Squire sells a variety of items from quirky artifacts to fine art, exquisite jewelry, and furniture. Many of the products available stem from their love of the Colonial and Colonial Revival eras, as well as the TV show I Love Lucy. Ultimately, Mr Bu and Mr Sinclair said they look to celebrate items that fall under the realm of the unique, the odd, the strange, and the ugly chic. They celebrate it all. Right now The Vintage Squire has a one-of-a-kind historical map and functioning scroll for sale that details information from 4004 BCE to 1878 when it was printed, including predictions into the 1900s. There is also a lamp for sale that is identical to the one featured in the TV series Bewitched on Darrin and Samantha's nightstand. The Vintage Squire has items that range from a dollar to $15,000, with everything in between. New things come in every day, so it they encourage locals to check their Facebook page for photos of the latest items for sale.

What would you most like The Newtown Bee readers to know about your business? A great deal of time and consideration goes into choosing every single piece Mr Bu and Mr Sinclair buy. They enjoy the story that goes along with each piece and appreciate connecting with their customers. Mr Bu said, "We love what we do, we love our products, and we have a passion for everything in the store."

Hours of operation: Winter hours are Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday from 11 am to 5 pm; Thursday and Saturday from 11 am to 6 pm; and closed Monday and Tuesday. Check out The Vintage Squire website or Facebook page for upcoming spring hours.
