For anyone who has ever been tempted to sneak some edibles into their ornamental garden, the next presentation hosted by The Town & Country Garden Club will provide some tips.

Organic gardener Karen Bussolini will be the guest speaker when the club meets Wednesday, March 8, at 6:30 pm. The meeting and program will be at Newtown Senior Center, 14 Riverside Road in Sandy Hook.

Many vegetables, fruits, and herbs are beautiful plants that can enhance any landscape. When the principles of design and balance used for ornamental plants are incorporated into a blended garden, magic can happen: more types of pollinators and beneficial insects will visit.

Different colors, textures, and forms will add interest. Many container plants that produce edibles, bloom and bear fruit into the fall, can often be just a step or two from the kitchen door.

Karen Bussolini has had a long career as a garden photographer, speaker, and writer. She is also a frequent contributor to The American Gardener, the magazine of the American Horticulture Society, and Wildflower, published by the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center.

Ms Bussolini has six books to her credit that include information relevant to her presentation. Additionally, she is a Northeast Organic Farming Association Accredited Organic Land Care Professional.

Meetings are free and open to the public.
