I read Jim Gaston’s letter supporting Rob Blanchard and found the way Mr. Blanchard’s connection to Newtown was presented somewhat disingenuous.
Mr. Gaston repeatedly describes Mr. Blanchard as a “neighbor” and emphasizes his connection to “our communities” and his decision to put down “permanent roots” in Newtown. But the relevant context is that Mr. Blanchard is a very recent Newtown resident. Frankly, I have food in my refrigerator that has been in Newtown longer than he has.
Also -- Joseph Gormley, a Republican from Newtown, was a state senator in the late 1940s/early 1950s.
Rob Blanchard has lived in the 28th Senate District for five years -- longer than has your preferred candidate.
