Occupation: I'm a real estate consultant at Coldwell Banker, and I've been a Diamond Award winner for sales for the past four years. I started doing real estate nine years ago up in Middlebury. Then I worked at the Coldwell Banker office in New Milford and have been in the Newtown office now for five years. I don't live in Newtown, but I have worked in Newtown since I was about 20 years old. I did landscaping in Newtown before real estate, so that's how I learned all the roads and the area. That knowledge transferred over to real estate really nicely, because when someone says they live on a certain road I know exactly where it is.

Family: I've known my wife, Kyla, since high school. We've been married for 12 years. She works for Ability Beyond Disability in their resource department. We have three kids. Leah is my 10-year-old, and she is getting into computer programming. Aidan is my boy, and he's 7. My youngest Erin will be 5 in March.

Pets: We have a dog Elsa; my oldest named her. Our cat's name is Ernest. We also have fish.

What do you like to do in your free time? One of my other hobbies is my reef tank with different salt water fish, corals, hermit crabs. It's my oasis to think of warm places in the winter. Also, I'm an avid golfer and love to golf whenever I have free time. I've been golfing for 20 years. I play in a local league every week out of Danbury during the summer.

Do you have a favorite author? I like a lot of the sayings that Mark Twain has, and I can relate to life through him. My favorite line of his is "I've been through some terrible things in my life, some of which actually happened."

What is your favorite travel destination? I really like Arizona, especially the Sedona area. I went out there last year with my wife for her 40th birthday. We fell in love with it and will probably retire there. Also, I like to go to Florida, because my mom lives there. We enjoy going to the beach.

What is the best thing about Newtown? The people. Also, the Sandy Hook Diner's corned beef and hash is absolutely amazing. When I travel and go to different restaurants nothing can compare to theirs. I go there once a month with a couple of realtors to meet for breakfast.

Who has been the greatest influence in your life? My wife. Her positivity and ability to just keep going inspires me. She never complains, and she's very motivated.

If you could spend the day with one person, who would you choose and why? I'd want to spend it with one of the high-end brokers in the New York area. I've always admired Barbara Corcoran from The Corcoran Group. The things she has done during her career are really trendsetting. I love to talk to successful agents and try to find out what their model for success is.

What is the greatest piece of advice you have ever been given? My mom used to say "Get up, dress up, and show up." That always helped me if I was looking for a job or looking to get an opportunity to list a property. You do those three things and you'll be good.

Shawn Andreasen is this week's Snapshot profile.

What is your favorite musical genre? I like a lot of jazz music, it relaxes me a lot. I've been listening to the band Too Many Zooz. They are street performers from NYC. I like things that are improv.
