The Newtown Senior Center, 14 Riverside Road, had its weekly barn dancing event on Thursday, October 20, from 2 to 3 pm.

Participants enjoyed a variety of dance styles including circle, square, and longways dances with caller Patricia Campbell, who led the class.

Fran Hendrickson and Bill Campbell of the musical group The Reel Thing played live music for the dancers.

Many attendees came to the class for its exercise benefits, as well as getting to interact socially with the Senior Center community. Fun and laughter was abundant as pairs do-si-doed and dipped and dived.

For those interested in attending future barn dancing classes, no previous dance experience is needed and no partner is necessary. Comfortable clothes and shoes are encouraged.
