With parents being asked to keep things extra safe this Halloween season this is a good time to also remind residents that there are thematic special events also being planned in Newtown this weekend and beyond. There are safe special events across the state as well.
Pomperaug Valley Garden Club will welcome Sandy Hook resident Nicole Christensen, who will present a lecture on “Snake Jumping Worms,” online via Zoom on October 13.
The Great Pumpkin Challenge, founded by Mackenzie Page in 2011 when she was in eighth grade at Newtown Middle School, will return for its tenth presentation this Halloween season.
Registration for individuals, families, businesses, sports teams, and organizations interested in participation in a new competition being hosted by Newtown Parks & Recreation is due by tomorrow afternoon.
Four buildings that were once residential duplexes at Fairfield Hills State Hospital, long emptied and now falling into disrepair, became the frames for art installations put into place last Monday morning.
The final installment of a series of municipal information sessions ahead of an Election Day referendum on whether to include a possible residential component to the Fairfield Hills Master Plan will be presented virtually as a Facebook Live webcast at 7 pm on Monday, October 5.
An election day of reckoning is coming for Mitch and Tony. Their biggest failure has been to allow the electric companies in the state to make CT one of the highest cost states in the country. Milk going up by $1 is one thing but having our electric bills go up by almost 100% and hundreds of dollars every single month is another.
Please explain why they would walk over the USA if Kamala was to win? Trump wants to be a dictator like Putin, Xi, and Jung Un and invite them for golf and cocktails at Mar-a-lago. Not at all scary.
"The elector’s oath was administered to 61 new voters and one additional name was restored to the list at the meeting of the Board of Selectmen and the Town Clerk held in Edmond Town Hall last Saturday. This compares with 87 persons who were made voters in their corresponding meeting last year." Cool stuff! Thanks for sharing that.
As someone who survived a near death suicide attempt I know how important having support outlets are. People don't always give indications that they are going to do something so it's important to look for hidden signs. Like spending alot of time with themselves, not being very verbal in social situations, and seeming detached.
When I went through it looking back, I did display these behaviors but gave no indication that I was going to go through with it. At the time I felt I had no one who understood me.
Letting people know they are loved, you understand and there's always a chance at a better tomorrow makes all the difference.

I remember spending time with the Sandones when I was in Newtown high school with "Patty". She was my friend at the time. They were all so nice to me and I had a great time at their home in Sandy Hook.
I remember Mathew being a sweet fun loving boy.
I hope they are all doing well and I always will fondly remember the time I spent with all of their family.
