All are invited to join families and individuals from Newtown who will be walking in the CROP Hunger Walk, scheduled this year for Sunday, October 27, at Fairfield Hills.

When Newtown Congregational Church hosts this year’s Mississippi BBQ & Shrimp Boil on October 19, guests will once again enjoy a traditional low country menu of Cajun seasoned shrimp, BBQ chicken, Andouile sausage, and plenty of sides. They will also welcome Matt Cole, a former Newtown resident who is now working for a United Church of Christ mission that NCC has strong ties with.

The Chamber of Commerce of Newtown is hosting an event to help introduce the community to the agencies and support service providers that are also resources listed in the Chamber's "Need Help" brochure that was circulated to all Newtown homes earlier this year by mail.

The Newtown Marching Band & Guard hosted nine Connecticut marching band and guard ensembles at its Annual Joseph P. Grasso Marching Band Festival on Saturday, October 5, at Newtown High School’s Blue & Gold Stadium.

Joseph Scott Galleries will host an art auction on Thursday, October 17, at Edmond Town Hall. Proceeds will benefit the child abuse prevention programming at Families Network of Western Connecticut.

Friends of the C.H. Booth Library will present the Fall Book Donation Day on October 20.

The Sandy Hook Organization for Prosperity is set to present its Ninth Annual Halloween Walk on Saturday, October 26, from 11 am to 2 pm rain or shine.

Flagpole Radio Café will return to Edmond Town Hall with five new shows beginning on Saturday November 9, at 7 pm. The dynamic alt-roots rock band The Slambovian Circus of Dreams will make their Newtown debut when they open the season.

The public is invited to join Newtown Community Center staff for its Open House on Saturday, October 5, from 11 am to 4 pm. The recently opened center is within the Fairfield Hills campus, at 8 Simpson Street.
