SCAN Spring Show & Sale At Booth Library, June 2-11

The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) will present its 47th Annual Juried Spring Art Show & Sale at Cyrenius H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street, Friday, June 2, through Sunday, June 11.

Media accepted into the show will include works in watercolor, oil, acrylic, pastel, graphics, printmaking, sculpture, and mixed media.

Jurors for selection and awards are nationally known artists Thomas Adkins, Marc Chabot, and Claudia Seymour. The annual Larry Newquist Award for Excellence/Best in Show prize for $500 and numerous other prizes (totaling $1,000) will be given for outstanding work at the show reception, which will take place on Sunday, June 4, from 2 to 4 pm.

The public is invited to the reception, as well as the exhibition. Light refreshments will be served during the reception.

The show will be open any time the library is open, provided the meeting room is not in use: Monday through Thursday, 9:30 am to 8 pm; Friday, 11 am to 5 pm; Saturday, 9:30 am to 5 pm; and Sunday, noon to 5 pm.

Regional artists will be submitting work for consideration by a panel of three judges on June 1, when selections will be made for the 47th Annual Society of Creative Art Juried Spring Show & Sale. "Budapest Opera Haz," a pastel by Ralph Schwartz, received The Virginia Zic Memorial Award in last year's juried spring show.
