Google Local Guides representative and Newtown resident Scott Wilson is organizing a Sandy Hook History Walk & Food Crawl, to take place Saturday, June 18.

All are invited to join Mr Wilson, and Town Historian Dan Cruson, for a walking tour of Sandy Hook Center. The group will assemble in the rear dining room of Cover Two, 100 Church Hill Road, at 11:30 am.

The morning will begin with insights from Mr Cruson, who will talk about the origins of Sandy Hook's name and all about the meandering lifestyle along the Housatonic River.

Participants will also stop to sample local flavors at some of Sandy Hook's favorite eateries. Some walking up slight hills will be involved. Wear comfortable shoes.

The event is expected to continue until 2:30 pm.

This is a free event open to anyone who has or may be interested in contributing knowledge, photos and reviews on Google.

Local Guides is a global community of explorers sharing their discoveries on Google Maps. They help others find the best spots in town, make new friends, and even unlock exclusive benefits along the way. Mr Wilson will be able to answer questions and provide additional information about Local Guides on Saturday.
