Roman Rostafin

Roman John Rostafin, 71, died September 8 in West Haven, after a long illness. He was a Newtown resident for 25 years prior to residing in West Haven. Born to Anastasia Dwernicka Rostafin and Thadeus Rostafin on May 23, 1946, in Munich, Germany, he immigrated to the United States in November 1951.

Mr Rostafin was a graduate of St Helena's High School, Bronx, N.Y., and Fordham University, also in the Bronx. He earned a Bachelor of Science in marketing and a master's in social work.

He served in the United States Army from 1968 to 1974, where he earned the Silver Star and other military honors during his tour of duty in Vietnam. He worked for AMF in various capacities for ten years both in the United States and Japan.

Later he started his own business, American Sports Products, where he worked until retirement. Mr Rostafin was a dedicated volunteer for various veteran outreach programs.

His three sons and their spouses, Mark and Ellen of Dallas, Matt and Jen of Baton Rouge, La., and Michael and Christine of Boston; grandchildren children Luc and Lily; and step-grandchild Kori survive him.

In addition to his parents, his brother, George Rostafin, predeceased him.

Interment will be at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery with military honors.
