Relay For Life Interest Meeting Is December 18

Dozens of faithful Newtown Relay For Life supporters are already warming up their walking shoes and marking their calendars for the 2018 event, which is set for June 16.relayforlife.org/newtownct - or contact American Cancer Society staff partner Grace Scinto at 203-563-1520 or e-mail Grace.Scinto@cancer.org.

To begin orienting residents to the upcoming event, American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Newtown organizers are inviting interested residents, students, caregivers, and cancer survivors to a Community Interest Meeting that is scheduled for Monday, December 18, at 7 pm, at NYA Sports & Fitness Center in the Fairfield Hills campus.

The meeting will include sharing community and team engagement opportunities, a brief discussion on what Relay For Life is all about, event updates, how to volunteer the day of Relay, or help plan the event. Event Leadership Team members and American Cancer Society Staff will be present in sharing fundraising progress, will take questions, and share how cancer survivors and caregivers will be honored.

The Relay For Life movement unites communities across the globe to celebrate people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and take action for lifesaving change. Teams also participant in fundraising and awareness-building activities in the months leading up to the event.

The Relay For Life movement is the world's largest fundraising event to fight every cancer in every community. Last year,more than 275 people participated in the Newtown Relay For Life event and raised more than $54,000.
