Hattertown DUI

Police report that motorist Mary Classey, 32, of Monroe was driving a 2009 Subaru Forester SUV northward on Hattertown Road, near the Monroe town line, about 3:06 am on April 5, when the vehicle struck some guardcabling along the right road shoulder.

The SUV then entered a ditch alongside the street and became disabled, police said. After investigating, police charged Classey with driving under the influence and with making a restricted turn. Following arrest processing, police released Classey on $500 bail for an April 20 court appearance on the charges.

Warrant

After learning that police held a warrant for his arrest, Omar Rodriguez, 19, of Sandy Hook went to the police station about 1:30 pm on April 3 and was charged with failure to respond to an infraction.

Police had issued an infraction to Rodriguez last September. After posting $136 bail, Rodriguez was released for an April 18 court appearance, police said.

Found Key

Police report that they received for safekeeping midday on Sunday, April 2, a Lexus-brand automobile key that had been found at the Fairfield Hills grounds.

The key was attached to a Monkey Fist-brand key chain which included a length of yellow nylon parachute cord. Police said the owner may claim the key at the police station at 3 Main Street, telephone 203 426-5841, by contacting Officer Chelsea Harold.

Boggs Hill DUI, Additional Charges

Police said that motorist Rachael Corsaro, 36, of Newtown was driving a 2013 Chevrolet Suburban SUV northward on Boggs Hill Road at about 9:06 pm, on April 1, near its intersection with Willow Brook Lane, when the vehicle drove off the right side of the road and struck a utility pole.

The Chevrolet then reentered the roadway and kept traveling northward on Boggs Hill Road, turning onto Head O' Meadow Road, after which it stopped running near the intersection of Head O' Meadow Road and Shepard Hill Road, police said. The SUV was leaking automotive fluids as it traveled, police said.

After finding the Chevrolet, police said they investigated and then located Corsaro at her home. Police said they charged Corsaro with driving under the influence, evading responsibility, and making a restricted turn. After arrest processing, police released Corsaro on $250 bail for an April 18 arraignment on the charges in state Superior Court in Danbury.

Botsford Vandalism

Police report that sometime between 4 pm on Wednesday, March 29, and 8 am on Thursday, March 30, someone intentionally damaged two right-side tires on a vehicle parked at a residence at 34 Meadowbrook Road. Also, someone threw rocks there, damaging two front windows on a house there, police said.

The property is located near the intersection of Meadowbrook Road, Washbrook Road, and Pine Tree Hill Road.

Police are investigating the criminal mischief and ask anyone who knows who vandalized the property to contact them at the police station at 3 Main Street, telephone 203-426-5841.

Interstate DUI

State police report they received several 911 calls regarding a blue Chevrolet Suburban SUV that was being driven erratically on eastbound Interstate 84, near Exit 10, about 2 pm on March 28, so they went to the area to investigate.

The Chevrolet then drove across the highway's turf median and headed westbound toward Exit 9, state police said. The Chevrolet then struck a barrier on the median and stopped moving west of Exit 9, state police said.

State police said that on reaching the vehicle, they detected strong odors of alcohol and marijuana inside the vehicle. State police said they charged motorist Troy Frangione, 20, of Newtown, with driving under influence, failure to drive in the proper lane, improper entry/exit at a controlled-access highway, possession of drug paraphernalia, illegal sale of a controlled substance, and possession of less than four ounces of a controlled substance.

After arrest processing, Frangione was released on $1,500 bail for an April 11 court appearance, state police said.

Subaru Hits Wall

Motorist Travis Szalay, 22, of Sandy Hook was driving a 2003 Subaru Legacy northward on Cherry Street, about 120 feet north of its intersection with Black Cherry Lane, about 11:18 pm on March 24, when the auto drifted off the road's right shoulder and struck a stone wall, police report.

There were no injuries. Police said they verbally warned Szalay for making a restricted turn.

Police report that at about 5:38 pm on March 27, motorist Mary Kokoska, 50, of Newtown was driving a 2015 Audi Q-3 SUV eastward near 31 Swamp Road in Botsford, when the vehicle went off the roadway, entered a ditch, and then overturned. Police said the motorist told them that she had fallen sleep while driving. There were no injuries. The Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps, a paramedic, and Botsford Fire Rescue volunteer firefighters responded to the incident. Police said they verbally warned Kokoska for making a restricted turn.
