Vandalism

Some time between July 1 and July 5, someone spray-painted graffiti on the walls of a concrete foundation for a house under construction on Beaver Dam Road, police said.

The graffiti includes the word "Rain" and the misspelled phrase "King Robbo Waz Here," according to police.

The incident occurred at 5 Beaver Dam Road. That dirt road connects Brushy Hill Road to the intersection of Platts Hill Road, Palestine Road, and Hundred Acres Road.

Police are investigating the property damage and ask anyone with knowledge of who vandalized the foundation to contact Officer John McCluskey at the police station at 203-426-5841.

Cellphone Violation

Police report that at about 9:08 am on June 30, they spotted motorist Eugene F. Casivant, Jr, 38, of Southbury driving a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV northward on Hattertown Road, near its intersection with Castle Meadow Road, and saw him holding a cellphone in his right hand at eye level, with his thumb on its keyboard, so they stopped Casivant to investigate.

Police said they charged Casivant with illegal use of a handheld cellphone while driving and with driving with a suspended license.

Police released him on $500 nonsurety bail for a July 14 court appearance.

Glen Road Crash

Motorist Iris Medina-Ayala, 32, of Bridgeport, who was driving a 2006 Nissan Murano SUV southward on Glen Road, near its intersection with Walnut Tree Hill Road, about 10:34 am on June 30, was making a right turn into a driveway when the Nissan was struck from behind by southbound motorist Matthew Hadad, 16, of Southbury, who was driving a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, police said.

There were no injuries. Police said hey issued Hadad a written warning for following too closely.

Currituck Road

At about 8:28 am on June 30, motorist Jordan Kaczmarek, 17, of Brookfield, who was driving a 2015 Jeep Wrangler SUV, struck the rear end of a 2015 Honda Accord driven by Alysa O'Donovan, 21, of Brookfield on southbound Currituck Road at its intersection with Main Street, according to police.

There were no injuries. Kaczmarek was verbally warned for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart, police said.

Three Vehicles

Police report a three-vehicle accident at the northern intersection of South Main Street and Pecks Lane about 5:32 pm on June 30.

Motorist Grace Burton, 40, of Southbury, who was driving a 2009 Chrysler Town & Country minivan southward on South Main Street, stopped for traffic conditions, after which southbound motorist Andrew Vallance, 32, of Monroe, who was driving a 2008 Toyota Prius, struck the rear end of the Chrysler, police said.

The Toyota then entered the northbound lane and struck a northbound 2016 International tractor-trailer truck driven by John Smith, 50, of Oakland, N.J., police said.

Vallance received a minor injury, police said. Botsford and Hook & Ladder volunteer firefighters were dispatched to the incident. Police said they issued Vallance an infraction for following too closely and for driving without a license.

Interstate Crash

State police report that motorist Thomas Plummer, 60, of Danbury, who was driving a 2008 Chevrolet K-1500 pickup truck on eastbound Interstate 84, east of Exit 9 at about 7:14 am on July 1, cut into the travel lane being used by a 2007 Mercedes-Benz C-28 sedan driven by Kellen Hinkle, 25, of Glen Gardner, N.J., and then abruptly applied the Chevrolet's brakes, resulting in a collision between the vehicles.

There were no injuries. State police said they issued Plummer an infraction for unsafe passing.

SUV vs SUV

An accident involving two SUVs occurred about 12:29 pm on July 2 on eastbound Interstate 84, about 500 feet west of Exit 11.

State police said motorist Felicia Minott, 39, of Woodside, N.Y., who was driving a 2015 Cadillac SRX, slowed for heavy traffic and was then struck from behind by motorist Jeffery Cook, 36, of Torrington, who was driving a 2008 Honda CR-V.

Cook received a minor injury and was transported by the Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps to Danbury Hospital, state police said. Cook received an infraction for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart, state police said.

Brake Problem

At about 4:15 pm on June 30, motorist Clint Zicari, 34, of Terryville, who was driving a 2013 Nissan Rogue SUV eastward on Interstate 84, near Exit 10, stopped in heavy traffic and was then struck from behind by motorist Harry Gordon, 51, of Waterbury, who was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, state police said.

There were no injuries. State police said they issued Gordon an infraction for having ineffective brakes.

Highway Crash

At about 7:27 am on June 29, motorist Colin Brooks, 44, of Everett, Penn., who was driving a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck on westbound Interstate 84 about 500 feet east of Exit 10, slowed to a stop for heavy traffic and was then struck from behind by motorist Roxanne Ahmed, 33, of Naugatuck, who was driving a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze compact car, state police said.

There were no injuries. State police report they verbally warned Ahmed for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

Interstate Collision

Motorist Thomas Keefe, 78, of Hilton Head, S.C., who was driving a 2014 BMW 528-I auto westward on Interstate 84, near Exit 11 about 9:45 am on June 28, stopped for traffic conditions and was then struck from behind by motorist Sage Lundgren, 24, of Danbury, who was driving a 2001 Toyota Corolla, state police said.

There were no injuries. Enforcement information was not available.

SUV Crash

At about 8:26 am on June 25, motorist Alyssa Tryjada, 21, of Seymour, who was driving a 2004 Jeep Wrangler SUV eastward on Interstate 84, east of the Exit 11 off-ramp, drove off the highway and struck some guardrailing, state police said. There were no injuries. State police said that Tryjada failed to drive in the proper lane.

DUI Incident

Police said they received a call about 11:07 pm on July 5 reporting an erratic driver traveling on Route 34, so they went to the area to investigate.

Police said they found the vehicle in question and saw it fail to drive to the right at an intersection, so they stopped it to interview the driver.

After investigating, police said they charged motorist Christina Domareck, 28, of Southbury, with driving under the influence and with failure to drive to the right. After processing, police released Domareck on $100 bail for a July 21 court appearance.

Sandy Hook Accident

Motorist John Riley, 17, of 17 Crabapple Lane, who was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Blazer SUV northward on Toddy Hill Road, stopped at that road's intersection with Berkshire Road about 7:02 pm, July 5, after which motorist Daniel Carpenter, 57, of 19 Sherman Street, who was driving a 2012 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck northward on Toddy Hill Road, struck the rear end of the Chevrolet, police said.

There were no injuries. Police said they verbally warned Carpenter for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

Botsford Collision

At about 1:21 pm on July 6, motorist Cheryl Bivona, 58, of Boynton Beach, Fla., who was driving a 2013 BMW 528-I auto eastward on Bryan Lane, stopped at a stop sign at that road's intersection with South Main Street, police said.

At that time, motorist Juan Moraton, 50, of Lincoln, R.I., was driving a 2008 Chevrolet HHR SUV southward on South Main Street, police said. The BMW then entered South Main Street and attempted to make a left turn to go northward, resulting in the two vehicles colliding, police said.

The Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported Moraton to Danbury Hospital to be checked for pain, police said. Botsford volunteer firefighters responded to the accident. Police said they issued Bivona an infraction for failure to grant the right of way.

Flagpole Intersection

A two-vehicle collision occurred at the flagpole intersection of Main Street, Church Hill Road, and West Street about 6:10 pm on July 5.

In that accident, which occurred on the Church Hill Road leg of the intersection, motorist Jennifer Miller, 42, of Brookfield, who was driving a 2015 Acura MDX SUV, struck the rear end of a 2013 Hyundai Accent auto driven by Kirsten Telhiard, 47, of Bethel, police said. There were no injuries. Police said they verbally warned Miller for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.
