'Passion To Paint' Includes Newtown Artists; Opening Reception Sunday
WOODBURY - "A Passion To Paint," the current exhibition at The Good News Cafe & Gallery, will celebrate its opening reception on Sunday, December 11, from 3 to 5 pm.
The public is invited to view the collection of works by 11 Connecticut artists: Ira Barkoff, Dorothy Calio, Joanne Conant, Anne Marie Foran, Charlotte Honda, Kathy L'hommedieu, Kathleen Mooney, Ann Quackenbos, Roberta Shea, Karen Simmons, and Wendy Walker.
Ms Conant, Ms Foran, and Ms Shea are all from Newtown.
"A Passion To Paint" features in abstract and figurative forms the artists's visions of the landscapes, seas and sky inspired by their natural surroundings. The artists, ten of them women who call themselves
The Connecticut Ten, met several years ago in a class taught by Ira Barkoff at Washington Art Association in Washington Depot. They have continued to paint together with Mr Barkoff as their guide and mentor.
The Connecticut Ten have appeared in a group show at the Mattatuck Museum in Waterbury, and three years ago at The Good News Cafe.
Each has been featured in solo shows throughout New England, winning numerous awards. Some have works appearing in museums, and all have works that can be found in private collections across the country.
The exhibition will remain on view until February 7.
Good News Cafe & Gallery is at 694 Main Street South (Route 6) in Woodbury. For additional information call 203-266-4663 or visit good-news-cafe.com.
