Oscar Winners To Be Screened

In Brookfield Film Festival

BROOKFIELD CENTER — The Brookfield Film Festival (BFF) has announced the complete line-up of films to be shown at this year’s shorts-themed festival, “Shorts and to the Point.” Among this year’s films are the Oscar winners for Best Short Film in both the Animated and Live Action categories.

The ten short films, consisting of productions from around the world, will be shown during two screenings on Saturday, March 27, at The Brookfield Theatre for the Arts.

The complete list includes:

*Logorama, Nicolas Schmerkin (France), winner of the 2010 Academy Award for Best Short Film (Animated);

*French Roast, directed by Fabrice O. Joubert (France), a 2010 Academy Award Nominee for Best Short Film (Animated);

*A Matter of Loaf and Death, Nick Park (UK), a 2010 Academy Award Nominee for Best Short Film (Animated);

*Granny O’Grimm’s Sleeping Beauty, Nicky Phelan and Darragh O’Connell (Ireland), a 2010 Academy Award Nominee for Best Short Film (Animated);

*The New Tenants, Joachim Back & Tivi Magnusson (Denmark/USA), the 2010 Academy Award winner for Best Short Film (Live Action);

*Kavi, Gregg Helvey (USA/India), a 2010 Academy Award Nominee for Best Short Film (Live Action);

*The Tonto Woman, Daniel Barber and Matthew Brown, a 2008 Academy Award Nominee for Best Short Film (Live Action);

*John and Karen, Matthew Walker and Sarah Cox (UK), a 2007 animated short film and winner of several international film awards;

*The Home Run, a live action short created for the Liberty Mutual Insurance Company’s Responsibilty Project™ Films and the Responsible Sports™ program; and

*Shikashika, Stephen Hyde, a 2008 documentary short contributed by the Connecticut Film Festival.

Screenings will be at 3 and 7 pm at the theater, 286 Whisconier Road (Route 25, behind Brookfield Library). The program is not rated and is intended for an adult audience only.

Admission is $10 and refreshments will be served during intermission. As there will be limited seating, reservations are suggested and can be made through BrookfieldArtsCommission.org or by calling Ann Amorossi at 203-775-2895.
