Occupation: My brother and I are partners in J&J Pools, building swimming pools.

Family: Jane is my wife. Our oldest son is Jake, who is 20. He just finished his sophomore year at Wheaton College in Massachusetts. James is 16 and will be a junior next year at Newtown High School.

Pets: We have a Maine coon cat named Stuart, but we call him “Furry” for obvious reasons. He is very docile, but he is a big cat.

How long have you lived in Newtown? I was born and raised here. I lived in Danbury for a little while and moved back to Newtown about 20 years ago.

What do you like to do in your free time? I enjoy fishing and I’m a member of the Taunton Lake Fish and Game Club. I enjoy family time. I’ve been a baseball coach in town for ten years. Jane and I do a little bit of cooking, too.

Do you have favorite sports team? I’m a Yankee fan. I watch football in the off-season and like both of the New York teams.

What do you like to read? I read at least two newspapers a day. I read The New York Times and the News Times, and sometimes the Connecticut Post. And I read The Bee once a week.

Do you have a favorite travel destination? We go to southern Maine a lot. My mother-in-law has a home up there near Portland and that’s a lot of fun.

What is the biggest change you have seen in Newtown? I’m very impressed that a lot of it is still the same as it was when I was growing up; that surprises me. The growth has been something, of course, but the parade and all of Main Street is so much the same.

What is the best thing about Newtown? It’s a huge town but it keeps that small, New England town feeling.

If you could spend the day with anyone, who would it be? I’d spend it at home with the family.

Do you have a personal philosophy? Not really. Don’t worry, be happy, I guess.

What in life do you most cherish? I’d have to say my family.
