Occupation: I’m a landscape design/builder contractor. The name of my company is The LaurelRock Company out of Wilton.

Family: My wonderful wife of 17 years, Tammy. We have three children. Anastasia is 14 and just going into high school; Shay is 11 and in the sixth grade at Reed Intermediate; and Emma is our littlest. She’s 7 and goes to Head O’ Meadow School.

Pets: We have one dog, Chloe. She’s a black lab and a lot of fun. Chloe is a year and a half old. Our cat, Garfield, is about 6 or 7 years old.

How long have you lived in Newtown? Tammy and I moved here in 1993.

What do you like to do in your free time? I volunteer at Newtown Congregational Church quite a bit and with the Scouts. Mountain biking is fun when I get to it. I enjoy doing yard work and things around the house. We get together with family and friends frequently, too.

Do you have a favorite book? I do a lot of reading, but mostly books about leadership, business, and management. Some are motivational books. I like the magazine Fast Company.

Do you have a favorite travel destination? Italy. We went last fall for the first time, as a family. We toured central Italy and went to Florence, Venice, and Rome. I’d love to go back to see Pompeii. We didn’t get to go there. We spent a little time in Campobasso, where Tammy’s family is from. We have family in the Balzano area and want to go there next. I’d love to go back to Bermuda sometime, too. In the US, Arizona and Colorado are just beautiful places to visit.

If you could spend a day with anyone, who would it be? My grandfather. He passed away when I was 12 and I was just starting to get to know him. He lived in California. I had done a biography on him in school and I learned about his life. But he passed away before we got together again.

Do you have a personal philosophy? Life is what occurs in the moments between the planned events, so try to be aware of each moment you are in.

What is the most important lesson you have ever learned? Setting goals. Write them down. It’s amazing when you look back. Goals are much more achievable when written down, because you’re committed to them.
