Occupation: I am the animal control officer in Newtown. I love my job. I like being around animals, and the town workers are just great.

Family: My husband is Charles. We have two children. Our son Anthony is 23, and Melissa, our daughter, is 20 years old.

Pets: I have three dogs; two Jack Russell terriers and a mutt. Abby and Domino are the Jack Russells, and Wiggles is my other dog. They’re pound dogs that I’ve adopted. I have four cats: Zoe, Spreewell, Camby, and one that is named “Kitty.” Kitty came from the pound, too, and is an older cat. She lives in my daughter’s room. I also have a rooster named Harley that was found in the parking lot of a Stamford business, and I have a pony that I take care of named Blondie.

How long have you lived in Newtown? I have been here since 1977. I am originally from Trumbull and we moved up here after my graduation, so I’ve been here a long time.

What do you like to do in your free time? I like to garden and I have flowers and strawberries that I planted last year. Mostly, I try to relax. I like to swim. My mother-in-law has a home on Candlewood Lake, so we go up there. Taking care of animals is relaxing for me, and I go for walks a lot.

Do you have a favorite hiking trail in Newtown? There is a new walking trail behind my house that went in a couple of years ago. The Boy Scouts made the trail on some open space up there. I don’t think a lot of people know about it.

Do you have a favorite travel destination? We go to Wildwood, N.J., every year, on the shore. We rent a place with friends and we’ve met friends down there. We just go to the beach all day. It’s so relaxing.

What is the best thing about Newtown? The amount of wildlife that we have here in Newtown. We have foxes, deer, and coyotes, even bears, bobcats, owls — so many different things. I get to see a lot of the babies. When you’re in this business, you see a lot.

Who do you most admire? I think the people who help animals, like those who work for ASPCA and the people who rescue animals. They are my heroes.

Do you have a personal philosophy? Enjoy life. Don’t worry so much — life is too short.

Do you have a guilty pleasure? I love ice cream and there are certain shows I love to watch while I eat it: Animal Cops and The Deadliest Catch on the Discovery Channel.
