Norma Cassinelli

Norma "Norms" Burigo Cassinelli, 90, formerly of Sandy Hook, died peacefully at Filosa Nursing Facility in Danbury on May 22. She was born in her home in the Bronx, N.Y., on April 12, 1927, to Maria (DeBona) and Giovanni Burigo. She married Umberto Cassinelli on May 7, 1955. Her loving children, Patrice Buonassisi and Daniel Cassinelli; son-in-law, Michael Buonassisi; five grandchildren, Michael Buonassisi, Marissa Cassinelli, Kristen Buonassisi, Justin Cassinelli, and Matthew Cassinelli; and her sister Ida Spinoso survive her. She will be missed by her many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Her husband Umberto; her siblings and their spouses, Olga and Anthony Sbuttoni, Louise Burigo, Oneila Burigo, Yolanda and Joseph Timeo, Alfred and Lucy Burigo, and Andrew and Ida Burigo; brother-in-law Arthur Spinoso; and a nephew predeceased her.

Mrs Cassinelli grew up in the Bronx moved to Valhalla, N.Y., in 1969 and Sandy Hook in 1997. She lived at Ridgefield Crossings in Ridgefield from July 2012 until she moved to Filosa Nursing Facility this March.

The family would like to thank her private aides (Lisa, Isabelle, and Tonia) and the staff at Ridgefield Crossings and Filosa Nursing Facility for the loving care she received.

Mrs Cassinelli was a lively, energetic, and fun-loving woman whose grandchildren and family were her greatest joys. Her enthusiasm, sense of humor, jokes, and loving ways will be missed by all who knew her. Her loved ones say, "In our memories and in our hearts, she will be with us always."

Calling hours are scheduled for Wednesday, May 31, from 4 to 8 pm, at Hawthorne Funeral Home, 21 West Stevens Avenue, Hawthorne, N.Y.

The funeral Mass is scheduled for Thursday, June 1, at 10 am, at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 2 Broadway, Valhalla, N.Y.
