Nighthawk Volleyball Team Remains Perfect

Newtown High School's boys' volleyball team defeated visiting Oxford in a battle of South-West Conference teams, 25-22, 25-19, 25-18 on April 30. With the win, the Nighthawks improved to 10-0 and Oxford slipped to 8-3. NHS is 6-0 in conference play, and Oxford is 2-3.

Ardi Kodzodziku had three aces, 23 kills, 14 digs, and seven service points. Robbie Morrill had one ace, eight kills, nine digs, and six service points. Silas Decker recorded an ace, six kills, one block, and a trio of digs. Morten Sande had three kills and three blocks. Eric Moore accumulated 25 assists, one block, and 12 digs. Liam Jones had 16 assists and seven digs.

This marked the sixth time the Nighthawks won a match in three sets.

The Hawks visited Southern Connecticut Conference opponent Cheshire on May 2 in the first of four consecutive road matches, and prevailed 3-1, then beat host Kolbe Cathedral of Bridgeport 3-0 the next day. The Hawks are slated to go to Amity of Woodbridge on Monday, May 7, and travel to Shelton on Wednesday, May 9; both matches are set to start at 6 pm.

Newtown returns home Thursday, May 10, for a rematch with Joel Barlow of Redding, starting at 5:45 pm. Newtown defeated Barlow in a hard-fought 3-2 match, in Redding, back on April 16.
