Nighthawk Squads Have Success

Newtown High School's football, field hockey, girls' swimming and diving, and girls' volleyball teams all came out on top in September 16 action.The Bee.

The football team visited Stratford and scored a 42-19 triumph led by Hunter Cobb's touchdown barrage, and improved to 2-0 in the process. Newtown's field hockey team doubled up visiting Brookfield 2-1 and also improved to 2-0.

In the pool and on the volleyball court, a pair of Nighthawk squads picked up their first wins of the campaign. The swim team went on the road and defeated Joel Barlow of Redding at Western Connecticut State University in Danbury. The host Nighthawk spikers blanked Notre Dame-Fairfield 3-0.

The girls' soccer team, unbeaten in three games to begin the campaign, will host Holy Cross under the lights at Blue& Gold Stadium on Saturday, September 17, beginning at 7 pm.
