Learn basic, tried-and-true techniques for growing popular vegetables. Organic controls to manage weeds, insects, and common diseases will be discussed. The course is taught by an Advanced Master Gardener and Sierra Club Connecticut newsletter contributor.Using Your Computer To Get Around The Internet Effectively - A one-class course, Thursday, April 26, 6:30 pm to 9 pm, $39. This class will discuss using internet browsers to get around the internet.Zen And The Art Of Seeing, Part II, Photography As Meditation - A one-class course, Saturday, April 28, 10 am to 3 pm, $79. The course is for those interested in learning to use their camera to expand their relationship with nature, be inspired, and help them cultivate inner peace. Using the camera as a meditative tool students will learn to expand their connection to the natural world. This course consists of theory and practice in the field. Point and shoot cameras and smartphone cameras are permitted. This course is for adults, but teens 15 years old or older with a serious interest in photography and/or meditation are also welcome. Transportation for teens will need to be provided for field work. Students should bring a notebook, pen, and tripod if they have one, a bag lunch, water bottle, and come prepared to spend time outdoors.Excel Part 2 - A three-class course starting on Mondays, starting Monday, April 30, 6:30 pm to 9 pm, $99. In this second part they will work with multiple sheet workbooks, charts, advanced formatting capabilities, data functions, templates, and more. The Excel Part 1 class or an equivalent is a prerequisite.Spring/Summer Outdoor Walk and Tone - A six-class course starting Tuesday, May 1, 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm, $69. The class will include a combination of walking, interval training (optional), toning exercises utilizing the body's own resistance, ab and core work, and stretching. All levels of fitness are welcome.Cardio Calorie Blast - A six-class course starting Tuesday, May 1, 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm, $69. This efficient and effective workout will include aerobics, toning exercises, and yoga stretching. All levels of fitness are welcome. Low-impact, low-intensity exercises and modifications to exercises will be demonstrated. Students should wear comfortable clothing and sneakers, bring a bottled water, an exercise or yoga mat, and a pair of hand weights, 3 pounds for beginners, 5 pounds or more for advanced.Murder And Mayhem In New York City - A three-class course starting Tuesday, May 1, 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm, $99. Students will learn how major events affected the history of New York City.Windows 10, An Overview - A one-class course on Wednesday, May 2, 6:30 pm to 9 pm, $39. Windows 10 has several significant user interface changes, a brand new internet browser (replacing Internet Explorer), a new digital assistant (called Cortana), and other changes as well.Get Organized And Get Control. - A one-class course on Wednesday, May 2, 7:30 pm to 9 pm, $29. Professional Organizer Karen Pierce will show students how to organize so they can save time, do what they love, save money, decrease stress, improve health and enjoy their space. Bring a purse/handbag/backpack to class (without organizing it first). The class will talk about the lurking threats and how to stay safe online, from firewalls to phishing, from social engineering to security software, from ransomware to malware, from backups to updates, and from passwords to popups.Caring For Others And Yourself - A four-class course starting Thursday, May 3, 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm, $99, will offer information and discussions regarding the general issues of aging for those who might be caring for others and themselves. This information will involve what to expect when caring for others especially the physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects, as well as how to care for oneself.Ballroom Dancing - A four-class course being offered on Thursdays, starting May 3, 7 pm to 8 pm, $99/couple or $51/single. Joe Williams and Noni Low have been dancing together for more than 20 years and teaching ballroom dance for more than 15 years. Couples and singles welcome.
