NASHVILLE, TENN. — A June 18 national Electronic Security Expo (ESX) will be featuring Newtown Police Chief Michael Kehoe as the featured speaker of its Industry IceBreaker Luncheon.

In times of tragedy public safety officials react. On 12/14, Newtown Police Chief Michael Kehoe had the extremely difficult job of reacting to an elementary school scene that no one could have imagined.

“This day — that scene—will always be present in my mind,” he told CBS News.

“Now we’re a little bit stronger. We’re a little bit wiser,” he told WFSB News’ Robert Goulston in February. “No matter how tough it gets out there, we’re here to help and we’re here to serve and we’ll do what we can.”

ESX Chair George De Marco said he was looking forward to hearing Chief Kehoe’s thoughts on how the public and private safety sectors can work together to protect families and children.

Chief Kehoe, who has led Newtown’s department since 2001, is chairman of the Statewide Narcotics Task Force Policy Board, a member of the Connecticut Coalition for Drug Endangered Children, and the board co-chair of Newtown Prevention Council.

Chief Kehoe has also served as the president of the Fairfield County’s Chiefs of Police Association and on the board of directors, as vice president, of the Connecticut Police Chiefs Association.

“I’m glad to participate in the Industry IceBreaker Luncheon at ESX this June,” said Chief Kehoe in a release. “It’s important that we in the public and private safety sectors continue to find new ways to work together to help secure and protect our communities.”

The Industry IceBreaker Luncheon will host the presentation of the Security Industry Alarm Coalition (SIAC) William N. Moody Award, which will recognize a volunteer who has demonstrated exemplary leadership and dedication in maximizing false dispatch reduction across North America, as well as the 2012 PDQ Award, presented by Security Sales and Integration magazine, which recognizes the security company that best demonstrates a proactive and cooperative effort to reduce unnecessary alarm dispatches.

ESX is the education and networking event for security integration and monitoring companies. ESX attracts progressive installing and monitoring companies to meet with hundreds of exhibiting electronic security equipment vendors and industry service providers.
