March 21 Closings, Cancellations And Other Weather Announcements

Ahead of snow that is expected to reach the area during the Tuesday-Wednesday, March 20-21 overnight, The Newtown Bee is collecting and sharing weather related closings, cancellations, postponements, etc.Hearts of Hope-Newtown has decided to postpone this week's painting event.  The gathering scheduled for Wednesday, March 21, has been pushed out to Wednesday, March 28. Other details will remain the same: the group will still be in the lower hall of Newtown United Methodist Church, 92 Church Hill Road in Sandy Hook, from 6:30-8:30 pm, and will be painting hearts this month for Fidelco Guide Dogs.here.

Fairfield and New Haven counties are forecast to receive over a foot of snow, according to the March 20 forecast by the National Weather Service.

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 21 UPDATES

The "Healthy Desk Habits" program scheduled for March 21 at C.H. Booth Library has been postponed to Wednesday, March 28, due to the impending storm. The program will still be presented in the lower meeting room, and will run from 7 to 8 pm.

The office at Newtown Congregational Church will be open this morning, and bible study will be held. All afternoon and evening activities, including tonight's AWE service, have been canceled.

Tonight's Legislative Council public hearing (7 pm) and meeting (7:30) have been canceled.

The regular meeting has been rescheduled to tomorrow night; the agenda has been posted The Newtown Bee Calendar page.

The public hearing has been rescheduled to Wednesday, March 28; the updated notice has also been posted on The Bee's Calendar page.  An already-scheduled Legislative Council meeting will follow at 7:30 that night.

Tonight's Board of Assessment Appeals meeting has also been canceled. A special meeting has been scheduled for Thursday, March 22. No agenda available as of 9 am Wednesday.

EverWonder Children's Museum will be closing at noon today.

The Ben's Bells Connecticut studio in Bethel will be closing this afternoon at 3.

NYA Sports & Fitness Center will be closing at 3 today, according to an email blast from Newtown Parks & Recreation. As a result, Parks & Rec's tennis program this afternoon is canceled. The make-up session will be Wednesday, May 2.

Tonight's Water & Sewer Authority special meeting has been canceled.

C.H. Booth Library has announced it will close at 4 this afternoon.
