To the Editor:

I have just learned that the Trump administration has imposed a ban upon the Centers For Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), forbidding that agency from employing certain words in the preparation of its official budget document for 2018.

These are the words: entitlement, diversity, fetus, transgender, vulnerable, science-based, evidence-based.

Never before, in its history of service to our nation has this top public health agency experienced governmental restriction imposed on the language it uses in addressing our health needs.

This unwarranted and in my mind unconstitutional censorship is the action of an administration that becomes more and more fascist by the month.

That it will impede the CDC in reporting public health issues is only one travesty we see here. This president, and his appointed cabinet, have step by step been undermining and emasculating institutions that protect us from autocracy.

Trump's cabinet appointees to Health and Human Services, Energy, Education, and Interior, as well as the Environmental Protection Agency and Federal Communications Commission, have proceeded to dismantle both the personnel and the policies of their respective offices - opening up our land and ourselves to rapacious predation by private interests, and eroding the citizens' ability to find protection and justice within our laws and institutions.
