Junior Riders Experience Hunter Pace At Sunny Brook

Sunny Brook Farm recently finished the season with its second annual Junior Hunter Pace. This pace has been set up for young horseback riders to learn all of the skills needed to ride outside of the ring. It teaches team work, basic trail skills, independent thinking, all while giving them a taste of competing in a real hunter pace.

The optimal time was 25 minutes, and rider times ranged from 26 to 40 minutes, depending on rider comfort level. All jumps had go-rounds and riders had optional road work. The pace served as a learning experience that enables riders to become well-rounded equestrians.

While waiting for all riders to finish the pace riders enjoyed refreshments and in-barn activities thanks to the work of Sunny Brook volunteers.

Sunny Brook’s next workshop for Adults will be a hands on Introduction to Horses. This program is set up for individuals who have a family member who is enthusiastic about horses, or who would just like an introduction into the world of horses. Sunny Brook workshop personnel will cover topics including basic horse safety, grooming, handling, and how horses think. Riders will learn how to find a stable that fits their specific needs. Helmet safety and fit, general tack, and tack fit will also be covered. There will be question and answer sessions. All proceeds for this workshop will go to charity.

The date of the program will be announced and more information, and details about other upcoming activities may be found online at sunnybrook farmct.com.
