Joan McCarthy Yuknek, 82, of Sandy Hook died February 6. She was born June 4, 1934.

Her sister, Margaret Conlan, and her husband, Mortimer, of Oxford; her sister-in-law, Jean Kostro of Trumbull; her two brothers-in-law, Michael Yuknek of Swarthmore, Penn., and William Yuknek of Dillsburg, Penn., survive her. Mrs Yuknek is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Her husband of 47 years, John Yuknek; five brothers, and two sisters predeceased her.

Mrs Yuknek came to the United States in 1954 from County Cork, Ireland. She retired from Vishay Vitramon in Monroe after 19 years of service. She was a lifetime member of the Gaelic American Club of Fairfield.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St Rose of Lima Church, 46 Church Hill Road, Newtown, on Friday, February 10, at 11 am. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Route 25, Newtown.
