HVCA To Present

‘Best Of Show’ Exhibition

DANBURY — Housatonic Valley Cultural Alliance will present its the 2010 Juried Art Exhibition and Sale at Danbury Mall from September 9-23, 2010. Sponsored by Danbury Fair, the exhibition will feature an array of art by nearly 50 artists in the region of diverse age, experiences, and backgrounds.

“This event brings together people of all persuasions who appreciate art to celebrate the work and accomplishments of area artists,” says HVCA Executive Director Lisa Scails. “Our purpose is to increase opportunity for local talent to show their work and for the community to enjoy it. Work of emerging as well as well accomplished artists is represented in the exhibition and the added benefit is it is available for mall shoppers and visitors for the two weeks.”

The exhibition will open with a gala reception in the mall’s Center Court on Friday, September 10, from 7 to 9 pm, featuring wine, hors d’oeuvres, and a jazz trio. Best of Show Awards will be presented to the following artists and their respective categories: Joanne Conant of Newtown, for painting; Berry Levin of Westport, for illustration; Suzanne Mancuso of Patterson, N.Y., for primitive; Emilya Padlowski of Ridgefield, for mixed media; and Vincent Rodriguez of New Milford, for photography.

Juror was Vincent Baldassano, whose paintings have been included in museum exhibitions across the region, and whose work is also in private, public and corporate collections throughout the US, Europe and Asia. Presently, Mr Baldassano is on the faculty of Gateway Community College in New Haven, and the National Academy School of Fine Arts.

The opening reception is free and open to the public, but space is limited so reservations are required.
