ON THE ROAD FOR JUNE 6

Little oopsie! Hey, it happens. The June 20 ROAR Tour date I mentioned last

week is in Middletown, New York , not Middletown, CT. That makes much more

sense, no? The tour includes the likes of SPONGE, TREADMILL TRACKSTAR, LINDA

PERRY, BLOODHOUND GANG, THE REV HORTON HEAT and IGGY POP, and it will be at

the Orange County Fairgrounds on Friday, June 20.

A few shows to note at the Oakdale in Wallingford. Tickets have gone on sale

for the following: KENNY G, June 30; UB40, July 18; and SHERYL CROW, with

Wilco opening, July 31.

BETTER THAN EZRA has been added to the schedule at Tuxedo Junction in Danbury,

for a July 20 show. This weekend should prove to be fairly interesting at the

Danbury club, when Sunday's triple bill features the likes of THE IMPOTENT SEA

SNAKES opening for MOTORHEAD and WASP. If that isn't a recipe for interesting,

I don't know what is!!!

Two new shows are going on sale this weekend for the Meadows Music Theatre in

Hartford. The HORDE Festival `97 - which, surprisingly, does not have Blues

Traveler on the itinerary this summer - will be in the stage on August 6.

That's a Wednesday; showtime is 3 pm. The bill does feature NEIL YOUNG & CRAZY

HORSE, BECK, PRIMUS, TOAD THE WET SPROCKET, SOUL COUGHING, CAKELIKE, LEFTOVER

SALMON, BEN FOLDS FIVE and KULA SHAKER. All tickets for this are $38.

Also going on sale will be tickets for TINA TURNER. Her August 10 show will be

the final stop on her tour; the evening is being billed as fans' "Last Chance

To Dance." Showtime is 7:30 for this one, with no opener announced yet.

Tickets are $20.50 for the lawn, $43 for the Pavilion, and $53 for Gold Circle

within the Pavilion.

And speaking of the Meadows, fans can start getting ready for BOSTON's July 16

date (if you wish) by picking up a copy of Greatest Hits , which came out in

stores this week. The 16-track compilation includes 13 re-releases and three

new singles, called "Higher Power," "Tell Me" and an instrumental rendition of

"The Star Spangled Banner."

The band's tour kicks off in Columbus, OH, on July 3. The line-up for this

summer's 40-city tour is Tom Scholtz, Brad Delp, Fran Cosmo, Gary Phil, David

Sikes and Curly Smith.

Still speaking of the Meadows, a friendly reminder: The DAVE MATTHEWS show

Sunday night is sold out. Don't bother driving to the Meadows if you don't

have tickets. Will Call will be open for those of you who have tickets

reserved, but there will be no one selling tickets at the box office. This is

the third straight year Dave Matthews shows have sold out in Connecticut.

Until next week, I'll be seeing you... on the road.
