Newtown High School's baseball team seized a 7-2 lead but couldn't hang on in an 8-7 extra-inning setback at New Milford on April 22; the game was originally scheduled for a day earlier but postponed by rain. The Nighthawks got home runs off the bats of Ben Harrison and Eugene Citrano, and doubles from Harrison, Jason Hebner, Rob Murray, and Austin Kasbarian. Citrano drove in three runs, and Harrison and Murray both knocked in a pair. Harrison collected four hits and Hebner had three. The Green Wave washed away Newtown's hopes for a victory with five runs in the sixth inning and the decisive run in the tenth.

The Nighthawks, in their next game, an April 24 visit to Immaculate of Danbury, again found themselves trying to protect a 7-2 lead. This time they held on and won by that score. Nine Nighthawks had hits, each with one knock, and six players drove in runs with Citrano driving in two. Citrano tripled and Kasbarian and Lombardo both had doubles. Lombardo also walked twice and score two times.

Hebner went the distance on the mound, allowing five hits, fanning nine, and walking two. The Hawks improved to 6-4 overall.
