Halloween Events By Fairfield Historical Society

FAIRFIELD — The public is invited to Scarecrowpalooza, a scarecrow building workshop and contest on Saturday, October 30, from 2 to 4 pm. The family event will be held on the society’s front law at 636 Old Post Road. Scarecrowpalooza is free with cookies, cider, stuffing and paints provided.

Participants are asked to bring their own scarecrow costumes, accessories and face decorations to make their scarecrow unique. Prizes will be given for Best Traditional Scarecrow, Best Historic-Figure Scarecrow and The People’s Choice (The Grand Palooza).

Also on Saturday, the society’s popular Spooky Stroll will begin at 5 pm. Costumed interpreters will guide participants around Fairfield’s Town Hall green and the Old Burying Ground on Beach Road, telling historical tales and local legends in the spirit of Halloween with stops at the former Edward’s Pond, The Sun Tavern and more.

Fee for Spooky Stroll is $3 for members and $5 for others. Children ages 5-12 are free. Light refreshments will be served. Reservations and prior payment are required.

For more information and late reservations, call the society at 203-259-1598.
