Golf Teams Win Matches

Newtown High School's girls' golf team picked up wins during competition on the courses in early May.

The Nighthawks shot a 208 to defeat Masuk of Monroe (222) and Bunnell (286) at Rock Ridge Country Club on May 2. Sarah Houle led the way, carding a 38. Camryn Findley shot a 52, Sydney Marino a 56, Nidhi Mukka 62, and Abby Watson 67.

On May 3, the Hawks visited Oxford Greens to take on Brookfield and won with a score of 208 to Brookfield's 238. Houle fired a 37, Findley a 54, Marino 57, and Liz Weisgerber 62.

In a May 8 match, the Hawks scored 201 to defeat Lauralton Hall of Milford (215) and Immaculate of Danbury (244). Houle had a 42, Marino 52, Findley 53, Weisgerber 54, and Kira Kelly 55.

The girls won again on May 9, shooting a 211 to host Joel Barlow of Redding's 221.

The Newtown boys competed in the Woodland Golf Invitational at Oxford Greens on May 3, and had a team score of 371. David Brestovansky, Tim Davis, Ryan Patrick, and Ryan Kost all competed.

The Nighthawks visited Stratford at Mill River Country Club on May 7, and won with a score of 168. Stratford did not have a full team. Brestovansky carded a 40, Patrick a 41, Davis 42, Kost 45, Jack Mulligan 53, and Tyler Clure 72.
