'Genealogy In France & The Province Of Quebec'

The April meeting of the Genealogy Club of Newtown will be held at the C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street, on Wednesday, April 9.

The meeting will start at 7 pm but for those who need help with a genealogical problem, the Help Desk will be open at 6:30.

All are welcome to attend, for non-members a small donation is requested to defray expenses for the meeting.

Guest speaker will be Francoise Lampe, who will present on “French Genealogy in France and in the French Province of Quebec.”

Ms Lampe was born and raised in the Champagne region of France. She has done extensive research on her ancestors, dating back to the early 1600s, and will share her experience. Part of her program will focus on resources available online to locate both French and French Canadian ancestors.

Light refreshments will be served, and all are invited to share an evening of learning and fun.

The Genealogy Club of Newtown meets on the second Wednesday of each month, from September through June., in the library’s Genealogy Room.

Harlan Jessup, a club member and professional genealogist, is usually on site Monday afternoons from 2 to 4:30 to help those with genealogical challenges.
