Free Program On The Gilded Age
Free Program On The Gilded Age
BROOKFIELD â The Regional YMCA of Western Connecticut is hosting a free workshop/lecture about âThe Gilded Age, 1877â1890â on Friday, April 25, starting at 7 pm.
Mark Twain called it the Gilded Age to describe the difference between how it seemed on the surface and how it really was underneath. It was simultaneously the most wonderful, dynamic, explosive, creative period in American history and the most exploitive, violent, and corrupt.
Between 1877 and 1900 America was altered beyond recognition. The public is invited to join a discussion of the period and find out why. It will be presented by Dr Tim Tuttle of Western Connecticut State University and Sacred Heart University.
The workshop will be held at the YMCA Greenknoll Annex on the ground floor of Greenknoll Professional Building, 60 Old New Milford Road in Brookfield. For more information call 744-1000.
